Town houses for sale in Almeria, Spain
One of the most common requests that we receive is for a small town house on the outskirts of a village with great views, in a quiet area but within easy walk of bars and a local shop, with a garden and space for a pool - essentially a typical suburban home in the UK but with Spanish character. Unfortunately these are extremely rare.
Townhouses tend to come in three basic forms, older Spanish properties, two story terraced houses known as duplex and three story terraced houses (often with a garage on the ground floor) known as triplex.
The older houses tend to have a lot of charm and character, however can be very higgledy piggledy. Many started off as small 2-3 room homes, but as the family grew, they added on extra rooms and floors in no particular order. Also as the families separated when the kids grew up, the houses have often been separated resulting in many properties that go under or over their neighbours.
The newer duplexes and triplexes are extremely sought after by the Spanish as larger alternative to apartments (it is rare to find these with less than 3 bedrooms) and hence attract a fairly high price tag. The most exclusive of all are those that surround a communal garden and pool and can be very difficult to get hold of as the increase in land prices has made them uneconomical to build.
