Villas come in all shapes and sizes, however can be divided into two general categories: bungalows, and large luxury villas.

The former were first introduced to Almeria (specifically the Almanzora Valley) around 2000-2001 and consisted of 2-3 bed villas on 2500m2 plots for approximately £100,000.  These have proved extremely popular especially as retirement homes, however the restrictions on legal build land have pushed up the prices and reduced the plot sizes.  Today, the choice of shape, style and size is immense and now includes two story versions, but expect plot sizes from 200m2 to 800m2 for everything but the more remote properties.  The majority exist in small urbanisations surrounding villages and small hamlets and you will find that in general, price is inversely proportional to distance from shops and bars.

Large luxury villas can be found in and around the larger towns and on golf courses.  Those in the towns tend to have been built to individual specification and hence vary enormously in style and layout however most are 3+ bedrooms and are on plots of between 600m2 and 1000m2.  In general the golf course villas have been built by a single developer and are of a standard style.
